When I’m on the road, my sports bag with running gear is almost always with me. It’s become a staple of my travel essentials. Even if it sometimes stays untouched in the trunk, it gives me peace of mind to be prepared.
Often, just a quick half-hour is enough, and every minute I can carve out for a run feels like a bonus.
Nature and Relaxation in St. Peter-Ording
One of the best examples of these spontaneous runs is during a long weekend in St. Peter-Ording. I love switching off and savoring the peace of nature there. From our small apartment in the coastal town, it’s only a few minutes to the sea. The thought of a morning run through the quiet town and breathing in the fresh sea air enhances my anticipation for the weekend.
Running Along the Coastline
The route from the apartment, through town down to the beach, and then along the coastline, has a unique appeal for me. St. Peter-Ording feels almost magical: the sea, the wind, and the vast sky – a backdrop that’s beautiful in any weather. The cool, salty air and the sound of the waves offer a calming effect and are a welcome change from everyday life.
A Special Morning
One morning, my wife and I set off together for a lovely ten-kilometer loop. The beach, lined with iconic stilt houses, provided a unique setting. Running on soft sand was challenging, but as we approached the waterline, the ground became firmer and easier to run on. It almost felt like running on a forest floor, and we found a steady rhythm. After our run, we headed straight to a warm shower and then to breakfast. Starting the day in St. Peter-Ording with a fresh run, relaxed and with a delicious breakfast, couldn’t be more perfect.
