Running group
I’m not really a typical club person. Whenever a group of diverse people come together, even if they share a common passion, strange things can sometimes happen. That’s just how people are, with all their quirks. Sometimes it leads to misunderstandings or small conflicts, but that’s part of being in a group.
That said, I truly believe that if someone enjoys being part of a club, they should absolutely do it. There’s hardly anything better than connecting with like-minded people and being active together. It’s certainly a more meaningful way to spend your time than sitting alone at home in front of the TV. The contact with others is far too valuable to miss. You not only gain new insights but also the motivation you might not have when you’re on your own.
And so, despite my initial skepticism, I ended up joining a running club – and I’m really glad I did. The community gives me structure, fixed dates, and a sense of accountability that helps me stay consistent with my running. At the same time, I still have the freedom to participate without feeling pressured. No one holds it against me if I don’t show up, and I really appreciate that. Everyone can participate based on their own needs and availability.
Thanks to the running group, I’ve met many wonderful people who share my love for running. The set training times have been a huge help in getting me out the door and overcoming my inner laziness. And the conversations during the runs are especially enjoyable. We exchange ideas, share laughs, and learn from one another – that’s what makes running in a group so special.
If you’re interested and want to learn more about the running groups, just check out the website of the Laugruppe Vellmar. There, you’ll find all the information about training times, different groups, and activities. I highly recommend it – it’s definitely worth being part of a running community! Whether you’re just starting out or have been running for a while, you’ll quickly find your place and gain new motivation for your runs.
Dates for the Running Group
The runners meet twice a week for a group run in different pace groups.
Each run lasts for 1 hour, and depending on the group, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 kilometers are covered during that time. In addition to the runners, there are also several walking groups.
The meeting point is Wednesdays at 6:00 PM (from 5 April 2025 at 09:30 a.m.) and Saturdays at 3:00 PM in the parking lot of the West Cemetery in Vellmar.
